Shaking/Rattling at high speeds in my Hyundai Accent

As I stated in a earlier post, I am not a boy racer, I have merely bought a small car to cut down on running costs as travelling to work was costing me £250 a month, it is now £150ish. I am 35 years old and have no intention of racing around, although I do have a heavy foot on motorways, it just happened that the car came with a big-bore exhaust and alloys. I have no interest in racing cars, If I had I would be driving one, fuel economy is more important to me than speed and cheap thrills.

So why mention that the engine is good for 110mph? Bit of an inferiority complex there maybe?

To get the thread back to the original subject, it's shaking and rattling at high speeds because it isn't designed for them (apart from any faulty tyres, bushes etc., that is...). For smooth high speed cruising you need a big heavy car, with a big relaxed torquey engine.

And if you want to cut down on running costs, slow down. With a smaller engine sticking to 70-75 or less rather than 80-85 makes a huge difference.
