Starter motor 'sticking' - citroen ax diesel ?

Jan 05, 2004 1 Replies

The bloody starter motor on my citroen ax is 'sticking' intermittently. In the most awkward of places, as one would expect.

About three weeks ago, it was 'reconditioned'. Brushes replaced. Solenoid replaced... But it continues to 'stick'. No starter movement at all. If I put the car in gear and give the car a jerk forward, it then usually starts on the key.

Apart from checking battery is ok, terminals etc. is there anything else I can do, aside from maybe pulling the starter off and having a look at it ? The solenoid cost 25 quid and brushes about a fiver.

Ignition switch on my 205 went, causing exactly this problem. (i didn't want to pay for a new switch, so rigged a push button and relay to start the engine, cost less than £10)

Just a thought.

Brian.
