i was cleaning the engine bay of my mk6 fester & found a 1" X roughly scratched with a screwdriver or knife near the base of the wiper water resevoir on the top side of the box frame.it was done after body painting as 1 edge of X has a hint of rust. i am assuming it was done in the factory to identify it before the chassis number or vin was attached.
anyone familiar with factory processes have any idea why they would mark a car in such a caveman way?i have had the car for some years now & there is nothing wrong with it.
