Panel Switch Replacement

1991 Miata.

I have a Cruise Control Rocker Switch (to the left of driver's left knee, on instrumental panel) that is bad. I checked the manual and it says that the switch can pop out. It can't be that easy.

Does the switch easily pop out, and you simply disconnect the wired connector behind the switch, replace with a new switch, and pop the whole darn thing back in the hole?

If it is, can someone explain the procedue for prying out the bad switch without runing the dash and its infrastructure (eg. clips, et al).

Thanks!

According to the Enthusiast's Manual, you should be able to pry it out of the dash using a small screwdriver, then disconnect the wires.

Looking at the replacement switch may well give a clue as to how the original is held in place.

Assuming it's the mirror image of the RHD version, reach under the dash and, if your arms are long enough, you can push those switches out easily from behind. They're very loosely held by clips. A screwdriver will pry them out, but not as evenly, and there's a small risk of marking the dash.

Out of interest, on UK models the three spaces are filled by (from the steering wheel outwards): hardtop demister, instrument panel lighting rheostat, rear high-intensity foglight.
