B2200 pickup truck

hello,

Was wondering if anyone out there has ever owned a Mazda B-series pickup truck and how they like it. I'm considering buying a used 1988 B2200 to haul things and use as a going to work vehicle.

Basically I want to know if

1) parts are hard to find or expensive 2) what's the tow capacity 3) any major engine faults for this model year

Thanks your help is *very* appreciated!

You know, I'm not really sure. I have a used '93 B2200 and have never had a problem in the 2 years i've owned it, except for a loose fan belt. It has

168 000 Kms on the odo. I bought it at 134 000 km. The previous owner replaced the battery, starter and alternator before I bought it. So I was lucky that way. Parts can be pricey as I understand it. Hard to find? Mazda dealers are plentiful around here (Ottawa, Canada) Scrap yards can also be a good source for parts.

If I recall correctly.... 1000 lbs without trailer brakes, 2000 lbs with brakes. 200 lbs max tongue weight. I've never tried it though. Gotta remember that there are only 85 ponies under the hood.

I don't know..mine is a '93 ;-)

I love this truck! It's my daily driver (my only vehicle, actually) I just take it easy with it (definitely not a street racer) and change the oil every 3000-5000 km and add gasoline as needed. Seems to do the trick.

Check out this forum for more info. Beware the pop ups, but very informative.
