1988 190e problem

Aug 07, 2003 1 Replies

Please help..... any help is appreciated. This car belongs to a friend of mine and she doesn't know what to do...

WHILE AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, VEHICLE WILL OCCASIONALLY SHUT OFF. IT DOES START RIGHT BACK UP AND IT DOESNT DO IT THAT OFTEN.

Thanks

Best guess - Fuel Pump Relay.

They often fail on 190s and they can show various symptoms. Mine started by dying just after start-up, progressed to doing what your friend's is doing, then when the engine quit at 50 mph I replaced the relay. That was three years ago, and no worries since.
