Hi Am looking at purchasing a 1985 500 SEC AMG with 98000 km on the clock



anything I should be really looking for as far as engine ,trans etc/



Anyone know of a website where I can find factory specs on a serial number?

Abuse. It's an SMG SEC for God's sake. If I owned it I'd... uh, never mind.

Find somebody that knows 126 chassis well. It'll need all sorts of stuff, first thing get a compression test so you know where you are with the engine. Then great ready to relace the brakes and all the suspension rubber (there's lots of it). You may have to replace some hard suspension components. Then the cooling system then you can wory about cosmetics.

There's always the chance it's perfectly maintained and needs nothing. Hah!.

The Coupe differs from the sedan only in body panels and trim. It's "just" a gas powerd 126 and any 126 site can help you. There is a 126 coupe site at: Uh, it's gone. Anybody know where Satish's 560 site went to?
