hey, i have a 84 300d sedan. i don't know if it's turbo. were they all turbos then? how would i know? just curious. i don't really hear that tell tale turbo whistle sound.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: As far as I know, they are all turbos. Mine is a turbo, its the same year and make as yours. If you want to be sure, pop the hood. Look under the air filter housing (from the side is easiest) and look for two circular tubes under the filter housing. There should be a black plastic duct (U-shaped) going from the bottom of the filter assembly to the intake of the turbo. Likewise the exhaust should come out of the turbo in a similar manner (but straight out no bends).
