W123 : larger footrest?

Hi,

I love driving my 280CE, but the footrest size sometimes drives me plain crazy.

Not that i haven't had the same problem in other of my cars too (all non-MB's), but since i really like driving the old coupé, why is a small detail as the footrest, too small for a size 11, and only fits a size 9 1/2 ?

Can it be resized in any way, or can i add two sizes by cutting a hole in the floor-mat or steering column cover ?

One should think that a larger footrest would have been one of the options when the car was ordered, together with the aircon, ABS, airbag, leather upholstry, electric side mirror, heated seats and all the other stuff.

Thanks in advance,

Jesper

I have a W123 280E and I have UK size 11's and have no problem. Are you sure that the flap ablove the foot rest (part of the under dash panelling) is installed correctly in its retaining slot. I've had these panels out a number of times, and they are pretty tough to get back in properly, and located in their slots in the sound deadening. You have to get it in correctly as you fit the under dash panelling (its in 2 pieces). I don't think you can wrestle it in once the screws are in. Its tough stuff.

Just a thought
