Wheel balance, wheel bearings or front suspension bushes.

Our '98 MGF VVC showed identical problems when we took delivery. First of all check carefully for scrubbed front tyres, even minor kerbing can knock the tracking for 6. Just a couple of thousand miles later you might need a new tyre ( or tyres). Turn your attention then to wheel balance, I got just the front wheels done, only to discover that the 60mph vibration had reduced a bit, but was still coming through the seat of my pants, so all 4 need to be done. Make sure that the balancer removes the balance weights which were factory fitted from new using adhesive tucked out of sight on the inside of the alloy wheel, before setting each wheel up on the machine. The MGF is actually a body shell with the front subframe of a Metro bolted on front & rear, (I suspect we have all seen old Metros crabbing down the road, ) this means that the MGF tracking needs to be done using 4 wheel tracking equipment, not necessarily available at your local tyre depot. MG-Rover wanted £120 for this job, we found a '4 wheel drive specialist' who charged £35.

4 wheel drive cars apparently need 4 wheel tracking adjustment, news to me! I can now cruise at 100mph+ ( not in the UK of course) with no sign of a vibration range and the car is a delight to drive. best of luck P '97F '67B
