COOPER S DE-tuned?

Nov 09, 2003 4 Replies

Evening all,

I may have asked this question before, but my PC has been down for the last

5 weeks, so apologies if I have!

My dealer made a comment when I picked up my new "S" 2 months ago, that the engine is "de-tuned" for the first 5,000 miles? No adjustment necessary at this pint, the engine management system automatically "tunes" up at 5,000. TRUE or FALSE?

Cheers,

Matt (Electric Blue Cooper S, White roof/17" alloys/roof/wing mirrors, Chrome Pack, Chilli Pack, Graduated Tint windscreen, Half tint windows)

False.

Dealers say the damndest things. I suspect this is a myth perpetuated at the dealership to get customers to relax during the break-in period and not obsess over the performance of their car. It is human nature to be super-critical and try to find faults early on and this line acts as a pacifier.

Thought so......I agree with what your saying Mark.....they'll tell you anything!!

Anyway, with 2,000 on the clock, my little "sparky" is opening up quite nicely!!.......

Cheers Paul.....thought so anyway!!!
