Hey everybody.
I'm having a big issue with replacing the O2 sensor (the one in the exhaust manifold, not the cat one) in my 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD.
Removing and replacing the part isn't an issue, the problem is trying to find the right part. And it is not like I went to AutoZone to buy the part (I never go there any more, since they screwed up parts for multiple cars for me). I went to a normaly reputable dealer that used to be a Jeep/Eagle dealer (They are now a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer). When I went there, they said the part could be one of five O2 sensors and could only tell what one it was by the VIN number. So I give the guy at the parts desk the VIN number and he orders the part. 3 days later the part comes in and another guy at the desk says it's the wrong one and orders another one. When I question him as to why it is so difficult to find something simple as an O2 sensor. He tells me that it is because that particular model also came with a Chrysler Engine (the
420A) and that is what gives them grief. After looking into it I did discover that the 420A engine was put into the 95 Talons, but only in the non-turbo engine. Made me wonder, but I figured he knew what he was talking about and it wouldn't be the first time Chrysler has thrown a curveball at the parts department.
Again 3 days later the part arrives and I try to install it only to find it waaay too short. At this point I'm kinda pissed, but it was after closing hours at the dealer so I couldn't do anything about it.
So it leads me to ask, do others have to deal with this kinda stuff? And if so, what did you do to remedy the situation.
And if it's not too much trouble, could somebody please give me the correct part number? Or at least give me a name of a dealer who you guys trust. (I know simpleton gave me one a while ago, concerning a different issue, but unfortunately I have lost the name).
I'm tired of my gas milage going to pot, that bloody CEL, the wandering idle, and I suspect that I have at least one fouled plug (the OBDII error code confirms my suspicion, but I won't know until I check it myself).
