3000GT 1993 Tail Light Sockets

Feb 24, 2005 2 Replies

The tail light sockets on my '93 3000GT were badly corroded, and wouldn't release the bulbs. In getting the bulbs out, I damaged the sockets themselves. Now I need replacements. The dealer says that the individual sockets are not available, and I must purchase the entire tail light assembly for $195! That seems like a lot just to get two sockets. Does anyone out there have any idea where I can get these small, gray plastic sockets, other than a junk yard? Local parts stores don't carry anything I can modify. FYI, Dodge Stealth parts just might work.

TIA

Find a piece of tinplate or such and mould new ones like i di don my Mitusbishi magna, took me 1 hour to make 4 of them, and i think i improved them.

do not buy the assembly.

Why do you not want to go to the junkyard for a replacement socket? Thats what makes junkyards great... you can get decent quality products very cheap. If it doesn't work, they will usually replace it.

An autoparts store should have a generic replacement piece... it is for a bulb... the piece can't be very unique.
