90 Eclipse - Bypassing Air Sensor???

Okay, i own a 90 eclipse, I bought a new K&N Air Filter for it, only to find out I can't keep the hot air sensor on the filter s it is supposed to stay. If I keep the air sensor off, and have the new filter on, the "Check Engine" light stays on inside the car. I am needing to know how to bypass the hot air sensor so that the light is off, and i can keep the new filter on the car. if anyone knows how to id like it if you could explain it to me. thanks. as of right now im keeping the regular filter and sensor on the car until i can bypass the sensor.

There is no need to by-pass or molest anything other than the can itself.

as billy wrote there is no need to molest the can but, yep there is a but, what you would wnat to do to get the most out your filter is remove the outer can (the thing that is bolted to the car) and bend the clips ever so slightly as to hold the filter in. fab up a mount so the new assembly does not move. but if you are syaing that you cannot use the air filter and the MAF (mass air flow sensor) then either you do not have a k&n air filter, or it goes to a different car some people have problems with the aluminum intake pipes, if that is your problem then all you need is a 4" long section of 3" diamter tubing from Napa (like $4.16) and a hose clamp to attacth the intake tube to the MAF to see some pics of what an aluminum intake tube and a k&N air filter installed and the outer can removed looks like go here :
