That is the 2,5 Turbodiesel right? Are you sure it is the original engine? In Europe the 4D56 was not put in the 1988 pajero. Ik have a repair-manual and electrical manual but it is in German. There is a Haynes manual in english.

What is weird with the procedure?

I have NO idea what this is, It´s not my own car.....

Not original engine?? I find it a bit hard to belive the engine is changed.

And if the 4D56 engine is not available in Europé, where and how did somebody get their hans on this engine.

But i think this must be the original one. At least that is what the sign on the chassis says it is.

The glow system does not operate normally. It ONLY glows for say max 1 second even when it´s cold.

I think the owner of this car alsom said that the glow indicator light is not working either.

Are the glow pluggs changed? We don´t know! If so, is it the rigt ones? We don´t know!

This is part of the problem i think. = one does NOT know if somebody did something to the car earlier....

Also we are guessing that there should be som type of tmperature probe to tell the system if it´s cold or not.

The engine temperature shows normal.

There are som type of control unit on the inside of left front whelhousing. Also 2 big relays. (not sure what they are actually)

So some type of manual would help.

When engine is warm everything is OK.

Thanks

Pajero Owners Club UK (POCUK) have a good deal of information on Mitsubishi Diesel engines.

Hi,

I did not say this engine was not available in Europe. It was, but not in the 1988 model. We got a 2,3 diesel and a 2,6 petrol version in the 1988 overhere, but this can be otherwise in other country's.

My manual does not say where the tempcauge for the glowsystem is, but my guess is that it is the same as the normal one. That one is connected to the management-system which might controll the glowingrelay.

Did you try to disconnect the powerbar between the glowplugs, use a lightbulb at one side 12v and put the other side on the glowplug. If the light goes on the glowplug is ok, but might be not 100%. If the light stays off at all the glowplugs then check the grounding of the engine, or all your glowplugs are defect.

Glowplugs must be 11,5 volts which is stated on the glowplug. Also is there a quick glowsystem available, don't know how that looks. That one puts for 3sec. the full 12v on and after the 3 sec. less power.

My 2,5, and now my 2,8 use 11,5v glowplugs.

Suggest you buy a Haynes manual.

By the way I wil never buy a Mitsubishi again. I am a member of the Mitsbishi 4wd-club and have seen too many technical designerrors, and Mitsubishi is not willing to fix this. Only within warrenty-time, if 1 month later you can pay for the new fuelpump ($12000 for the v60 3,2DiD Pajero) en/or the rebuild (if possible) of the engine yourself. Never again!
