It's a K series... it's a comparable model to the Turbo it superseded in the same shell, with the T16 being the same lump as seen in the 600Ti - just what is the problem with that as a comparison, eh?

Given rev counters tend to be accurate, I'll work out the actual speed it was doing in a bit, based on gear ratios and tyre sizes.
Not in old age, and with both cars in standard form it won't.

Would I drive the car? Yes. I have driven far worse. My Sera is awaiting new suspension; it isn't dangerous, but one rear shocker is leaking, so it might be. It's not nice to drive though.
But reasonable faith is not betting my licence on it.

Nope, but I've seen off a few on the road and my missus goes in one a fair bit (a workmates). And seeing as she is currently pottering around in a TI and says the unblown lump is comedy slow in comparison I think I'll trust mine and hers opinion over people who are just knocking Rover because it's a 'k3wl' thing to do :)
With all due respect, JackH was running a small business breaking and selling old Rovers.... he's probably seen more Rovers in the last 6 months than you've had hot dinners.
I've seen off Ferraris, Lambos, a Noble M12, an XJ220 and several DB7 Vantages in the everyday driving of my Citroen BX. I've never driven any of them. My mate's goldfish says they are slow so I'll just stick to mine and his opinions that all the above mentioned metal is slow as f*ck.

With as little due respect as possible, your opinion means even less to me than Monsieur NovaBoy and given that you both like to rub each other's leather wherever possible, I'll treat it with even less disdain than normal. If that's even possible.
A wonderful piece of japery that could almost be funny if I'd at all mentioned that the TI was able to see off greater endowed machinery.
But unfortunately I didn't, I only said a 200bhp Rover 600 is quicker than a 158bhp Rover 600.

Ok, well I'll spell it out even more clearly for you.
When both cars were in their youth, yes, the Ti was quicker... in standard form, and in the real world, it had the edge - the 42 extra BHP *peak power*, indeed meant the Ti would trickle away from a 623.
However, the point I've made all along, (and which I believe you still don't get) is... most 623is are still in touch with the bulk of the 158bhp they left the factory with, whereas most elderly Tis are way past their prime and down on the original levels of BHP and torque they were blessed with (which for the record, many believe Rover were a bit lucid with the truth with, when they stated the figures).
They're slower, (but the likes of you still think they're 'well quick, innit' because you still get that kick in the back when the turbo spools up), and they invariably use more fuel than a healthy 623i when in this sorry state, and to get the power / efficiency back requires mucho money to be thrown at it - a false economy on what at the end of the day isn't a particularly sought after Q car, and which initially became a performance bargain due to the insurance being so high on them.
I'd not touch an older Ti with a barge pole these days, unless it was in for breaking or it was that cheap I knew I could knock it out again for a quick profit, whereas I'd happily have another 623i if I were in the market for that kind of car again, as overall the 600 range is a very well built car.

Indeed, very unscientific. All I had to go on was that is had more power, personal knowledge from having competed against them (and puhlease don't bring out the "but they probably weren't trying!" toss that invariably crops up) and the opinion of someone who drives in one on a daily basis and is chauffered in the other a few days a week.
How could I possibly have drawn any conclusions from that.

I understand fine, I just have a contrary opinion due to the fact that this information appears to be a great big secret that only you and StevenH are aware of (altho in fairness he doesn't really have an opinion of his own on this, he's just licking your crack).
