B6 VW Passat 2.0 SE TDI 140 Mini Review

SteveHs' one, to be more specific.

Goes well... would be interesting to see how much reliable power could be mapped out of one of these.

It's a bit noisy at tickover and on pull away than my 1.9 TDI B5.5, but once moving it's quieter (and mine isn't exactly a bag of nails at any revs).

The ride is very good - not too hard / not too soft. The handling seems pretty good as well.

Trim wise, like everything I've had that's VW in recent years, things like the badges on the alloys are furring up, but I couldn't see anything else falling off.

All in all, not a bad car... I'm still not keen on the overall exterior styling but the interior is definitely an improvement over the B5.5 other than some slightly cheaper plastics on the lower dash / door cards.

The engine faces the wrong way. The North - South engine in the B3-B4-B5 was strangely cool.

How were the cup holders ?...

It seemed to work ok earlier on.

My first car had the same arrangement - a Renault 6. ;-)

I didn't check - I was too busy fondling the soft touch dash.

I did however realise that if I can get used to the styling, I might be up for getting one of these to replace mine when it's paid off. :-)
