  1. They don't have any "potential". They already look very nice - any stick-on-tat will make it look nasty. They don't have forced induction, so there isn't really any avenue for a meaningful power hike either (obviously this doesn't apply to the Diesel). The Brembos are already MONSTEROUS on the V6.
  2. They're fat lardy bastards at well over 1400Kg. The V6 or the
136bhp-Diesel-complete-with-chip are the only sensible choices. The 2.2 isn't too bad at a push, but it's pricey. Don't get the 2.0.
  1. The V6 was much improved from ~2000 onwards - power jumps from 197bhp to
210bhp, torque rises to 285Nm (!), fuel economy improves (!).
  1. You require the JBL 10-speaker-system-complete-with-huge-amp, and the full leather - so you need an SE spec car.
  2. The electronic suspension is apparently unreliable, so avoid it. I didn't know this till recently, but luckily mine doesn't have it (it's got
*everything* else though).

Basically, if you can't afford the right one, then don't bother !

Eugh.

Is there any such thing ?

I'm only 26. And I got my 620 TI when I was 23...

German is always the only way to go. It's just a case of whether you can afford it...

Running costs.

I looked into a C70 T5 - they aren't particularly reliable, and some of the parts prices are loonacy ! There are very few manuals around if you don't want an Auto. There were also an INFINATE number of models and options, making a used buy very very difficult. Not quite as stupid as the SAAB and VAG's randomly-varying-power-outputs-across-the-same-models, but not far off.

They don't.

At all.

I looked at one of these too, but eventually thought "What the hell am I doing, considering spending ten grand on this ? Coupe Turbo or not, at the end of the day, it's still a bloody Vauxhall Astra !"

At least the Pug has it's spanking gorgeousness in it's favour !

Ever driven a GTR?

Heh, don't worry, I think Pete M's values of "interesting" aren't quite the same as most people's.
