clutch slipping?

Hello,

The other day I was driving down a mountain... it was downhill all the way for about 15Km, at a steep gradient. The thing is, at certain parts I ran my car on 2nd gear to make use of engine braking to slow me down, the engine revs were still high and speed was quite fast (because of the steep gradient). My question is, would the clutch still be slipping in this situation even though my foot is COMPLETELY off the clutch pedal? Is it possible that the slope was too steep so the gravity pull of the car is strong enough to accelerate it faster than the engine can rev w/o throttle and thus slip the clutch?

Just wondering...

Thanks.

I think parts of the engine would start breaking before the clutch slipped in that highly unlikely situation

Unless it was either badly adjusted or buggered anyway, it would valvbounce your engine and overev it wildly first! And you might notice this...

But if it was badly adjusted you would notice it in everyday driving anyway, and you probably wouldnt have got up the mountain to drive down it :)

really appreciate all your answers.
