It's home!

Finally got the 75 back today.

Have to say that 'JonCedric' has done a fantastic job - all the rot in the panels has been cut out and replaced by solid metal and very neatly done with minimal filler.

He even managed to get the grey plastics sprayed up in something not too far removed from the original colour.

If anyone needs bodywork or structural stuff doing, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his work.

Just grabbed a few shots on the drive, but it's been raining so they're not great.

Looking good!! Ugly, but good ;)

Although I'm not a big fan of the alloys or your new plates.

Stupid question - why's it got 1991 plates from Co. Londonderry? (I used to have MIW 3518 but then I lived there!)

Heh.

No-one likes the alloys, but they're OEM Speedlines (sounds like a 70s prog-rock band) and I'd only swap them for period 5-spoke Revolutions.

What is it about the plates you don't like? - I was going for a 'euro look' rather than 'pikey Mick plates' look ;-)

And no, I'm not going to re-register it on mainland plates.

It was sold originally by an Alfa dealer in Eire, then the original owner took it over the border to NI where it got the Mick plates which it has kept ever since.

Meh, not bad. Just kidding. Actually, very nice job.

it's white and very very ugly, but each to there own. bet it was nice driving back. know what it's like to be without a car you really like for a while! least you didn't get dumped with a s**te MK3 Astra while it was getting done.

They'd be about Jan/Feb '91 in either Derry, Limavady or Coleraine. Someone in Coleraine had a white '75 about that time so it may be the same.

Highly likely - it's not as if white 75 were parked on every street corner even back then.

7x15" 5 spoke revolutions in 100mm PCD ?

Like the ones I have ?

98mm PCD, actually.....

What you got, then - pics and 'ow much mister?

If you're selling, like.

Some 5 spoke revolutions would be much much better.

Dunno really, just don't look right. I'd say you now have the 'euro pikey Mick plate' look :)

Pedant alert.....

I suspect it would be Revolution RFX alloys you would be looking for. My revolutions are like a 5 spoke version of the classic revolution 4 spoke. Hope that means something to you, I know exactly what I mean...

Anyway - they're the wrong thing IMHO unless you really do want 5 spoke classic Revolutions.

Erm, I assume yours are these:

Which are (with black centres) pretty much what was listed in the Alfa options catalogue back in the late 80s.

They're exactly what I'm looking for.

RFXs would be fine, too.

Are yours 100mm PCD, then? - not that it's a huge issue, 'cos they can be fitted with wobbly bolts - that's how most alloy manufacturers offer the 98mm PCD.

Yep, that's what I have here in 100mm PCD. The ones I have here are stripped to be refinished. If you're interested, I can provide some pics. (Always bearing in mind that I'm at the other end of the country)

Aye, I've thought of that.

Parcelfarce would be about 30 quid to send 'em down.

I'll bear them in mind, 'cos I'm still considering options.....

  1. Keep the Speedlines
  2. Buy some Revolutions
  3. Buy some brand new Wolfrace Snipers (polished rim / black spokes)
  4. Buy some 156 or GTV wheels.

Not sure which option I'll take yet - the Snipers are £350 incl. a set of Toyo (shudder) tyres. Not keen on the tyres, but a set of Goodyear Eagle Venturers or Pirelli P6000s will cost me £250+, so to get semi OK tyres on a new set of rims for £350 is a bit of a deal, IMHO.

BTW, the pics on there now are the new ones I too today to replace the rainy ones from yesterday.

Looking really nice. Not sure why others say it's ugly. I like these old classic things.
