Just back from the frozen North

With a Fiat Marea 20v HLX.

Opinions so far.

It's quite quick. They handle like a 156. All the toys work. Decent stereo. Comfy seats.

Can't really think of much bad to say about it, apart from maybe the styling and the colour (a sort of metallic beige.... 'Jewish Racing Gold', possibly....)

It's about as mint as an 8 year old car can be - the only problems being a blown bulb in the dash, meaning it's almost impossible to see the trip and odometer, and a minor crack in the rear bumper.

2 owners and 64k miles from new, belts changed 2 years ago on 38k miles.

Many thanks to PeteM for firstly spotting it in Autotrader and secondly for giving it the once over before my trek north this morning.

I'm well pleased.

They're just so wrong as a concept, they have to be 'cool' (as in TG 'cool wall').

In news:1h5xkt6.a8yhdk1xq9o7oN% snipped-for-privacy@italiancar.co.uk, SteveH decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows

No problem, Squire. It got the customary "Pete M rapid glance and listen" test, which it passed.

Sales bloke was well bewildered by my buying technique

"Hi mate, here to look at the Marea. If it's any good, I've got a buyer, but if it's a crock, he'll whinge like a bastard so tell me the truth, then knock some money off"

"It's ok, and, um, £800?"

"Done, he'll be here tomorrow, I'll just take a quick squint round it and give it a listening to"

Good oh!

Keep an eye on the pikeymarkets - Lidl, Aldi or Netto had one recently.

Big extension cord? A place I lived at had a 30 metre extension cord running to the garage. I used to run my 17cfm compressor and a bunch of lights off it.

That's my backup plan, but it's a bit of a PITA
