Strange, I couldn't get a BMW 316 compact out of my mind while taking a s*it.

A guy over here did that. Even put in GT3 carbon seats. Pretty nice Poxter.

Make my 8V GTi absolutely factory perfect. Bar a half decent stereo.
Then get a 3 door boggo golf, and fit full 16V running gear to the shell. Then fit a 200 horsepower ABF and roll cage.
Then an E30 M3 Evo. Not sure that there's much needs doing to one of those.
Then a bike engined 7.
Then a V8 Motocrosser just to wind up hikers.
Forgot the Lancia Delta HF IE, The ur quattro, and the MK1 escort with bubble arches and an XE or Zetec. And gulf colours. And a Metro 6R4.
Actually, if I won the lottery, I'd go to Dahlback racing and get a Veyron, or at the very least a quattro lump put into the middle of a MK2 Golf.
I'd also have a MK1 Caddy with a 16V lump for cruising about in.
I'd have my Ti modded (new engine, gearbox, suspension etc) so that it can do 0-60 in 5 seconds :-)
Why not just buy something better to start with? :-)
Do I ever concur. Fight you for the last trim screw! ;)
cos the subject was modding and that usually means taking a "normal" car.. and besides it often attracts compliments on it's looks :-)
..but if it had to be someat else then a Cortina Mk3 (2000GT style) with 17" multi-spoke alloys and uprated engine, running gear and interior (like basically all of it except those lovely curves and front/rear aspects.
