Yup. It wasn't having any effect on my performance. I just had to top the engine oil up every week. I left it a month or so at one stage and had put
2.5 litres in (oops!). The main thing it was hurting were the people who got caught behind me in traffic. I found the only way to prevent masses of blue smoke if I got caught up in slow-moving traffic was to keep the revs above 2000 rpm. Dunno about anyone else, but whenever I've taken my car for an MoT, the testers leave the engine running on idle the whole time during the test - kinda a worse-case scenario for my engine.Not too difficult, but does involve pulling the cylinder head off.
