Piston ring thickness/gap

Single compression ring and an oil control ring on a turboed (over 1 bar) engine. 85mm or thereabouts bore.

How thick would you specify the compression ring and what ring gap would you run and why?

hmmm depends what pistons.

what are factory specs ? or is this a NA engine thats been turbo'd ?

Suggest you look at C20LET ( Cav/Calibra Turbo ) engine, has a 86mm bore, uses mahle forged pistons. Quite often slap when cold but it goes when they are warmed up ( because pistons are forged they expand more, other types of pistons will behave diferently ).
