That's true of every diesel, faggy VAG or otherwise... :p
That's true of every diesel, faggy VAG or otherwise... :p
You are Henry Ford and ICMFP.
(I had a black car once, I hated it, always cleaning the bleeding thing)
I had a proper look at the dynosheets last night - seems I was wrong about how much torque it has.
The torque figures on it are actually for lbft rather than nm, so it now has 273lbft of torque at 2,250rpm, which in turns translates into something like 370nm of torque.
And... I compared the stated peak power figures in the handbook for the car which reckons peak power is at 4,000rpm.
Looking at the graph for pre mapped run, it shows that at 4k it isn't much higher than the figure in the handbook, as peak power was actually achieved at something around 4,300rpm - so assuming the dyno isn't that inaccurate, this is proof that at 75k miles, a diesel is just about 'nicely run in', as its freer and able to make more power higher up.
Anyway... all this car modding stuff is strictly off topic for this group, so I apologise. ;-)

Yes but a really well cleaned and waxed and polished black car is more cool and looks better than any other colour!
Hence my
But it's all ruined by the orange repeaters and indicators :)
When you do 50k miles a year, a black car is not your friend.
I wont even drive it on wet or dry but salty roads...
Well yes but white ones are on the way from the US. they are called Euro style!
Well I just got back from sainsburies... Dry roads, salt mostly gone, rained last night. But you have to be quick!
Don't get out much this time of year then...
You need better wax/polish/sealent :-) Muddy water doesn't really stick to my car anymore :-p
Wax and polish makes not odds to mine, well the wifes if the truth be told.
I wish my wife was that dirty.
(c:
I wash in very dilute rainwater and F expensive autoglym wash and wax.
I rinse with rainwater with a dash of rinsaid in it.
I dry with a leafblower (gets it out of all nooks and crannies) and this leaves it almost perfectly polished. A light touch with a soft towel in places leaves it absolutely shiny and slippery.
I wax it every few months with the green Autoglym for dark paints and polish off with a soft towel.
What do you use
PS I never went near mud because my tyres mignt get dirty!
Well, as of this week...
Foam with foam lance, allow to dwell for 10/15 mins Rinse Wash - Meguiars Gold Class shampoo Rinse Dry - with Meguiars Quik detailer to aid it Clay - once or twice a year - Meguiars Quik Clay and detailer Polish (me and a mate have just gone in a Meguiars G220 Machine Polisher - but it's not here yet heh so polish is by hand at the moment) - Autoglym SRP/ Megs #80 Sealent - JEFFS Wekstatt Acrylic Glos Wax - Dodo Juice Light Fantastic (you'd want Purple Haze)
:-) To be fair, on a car with paint as new as yours, that has been looked after like yours - hardly any of that would be necessary. You'd get a much deeper shine though if you polished with the Autoglym Super Resin Polish then waxed with a high quality Carnuba like Dodo Juice. Wash using only a quality wool wash mit - no sponges (they cause swirl marks). Polish and wax both applied with soft applicator pad, and removed with one side of a microfibre/buffed with another.
But this is only for people who are a bit obsessive *cough*.
Loser :)
I told my brother all that earlier and he just said
"Get a job dude."
Another valid point ;)
Most of that sounds about right. And my female carer (jenny 19) says I have OCD.
Re swirl marks. Get a petrol 4 stroke leaf blower. Dont let water (with all its salts from the tap) dry on your car! You may as well sandpaper it...
My assistant brian suffering for my OCD cleaning...
Well some people get it, some dont have the ability to get it!
And you MUST get a rainwater but or 3. No its not a desease. It dries clean. Tap water is full of salts, limestone and other crap like floride etc. It dries white and is abrasive.
On the other hand he may be right!
