'65 Parking brake troubles

Jul 22, 2003 1 Replies

I have a '65 coupe with the 6 cyl. When I bought it the parking brake didn't work so I'm in the process of replacing all associated components. When I looked at the equalizer the cable from the parking brake handle was just zip tied on. So I ordered all new parts, and am trying to replace them but I hit a snag. I can't figure out where the return spring connects to the body. Does anyone know where this connects to? I know that one end connects to the equalizer, but where does the other end connect. Any help would be greatly appreatiated.

Thanks, Rusty

Hi Rusty [funny name for a Mustang owner ;-) ]

The end of the spring attaches to a hole in the unibody frame extension from what I recall. Not on my car, but on pics I've seen on ebay. If you search photos on ebay for trailer queens you'll soon find a picture of a car you can eat off the bottom of, and an indication of where the spring goes. Hope I'm right and this helps!
