I have a 90 lx 5.0 convertible with 100k mi. completley stock.. auto tranny. Im looking to make it alot faster. Instead of supercharging this old engine I figured why not just swap it with a svo 320 hp engine, brand new. I have seen it on mustangs unlimited for 3000$ I am wondering what if any parts I would need to install the engine, and how much on low average would it cost to be installed. I am also looking at putting in shorty headers, dynomax super turbo exhaust, filter charger kit, and throttle body 75mm. Id like some opinions on weather this is a good start and how much it would all be to have installed. thanks in advance J.P

I would suggest perhaps looking into having an engine built by a speedshop. For a bit over $3000 I think you can have something built which would be more than 320hp. I am not familiar with the svo 320hp engine you speak of but if you have a shop build up a 302ci engine it would drop right in with no extra parts or modifications. Regarding the parts you are asking would be a good start I would consult a speed shop. You can't go wrong with headers or mufflers though. Filter charger kits are more for dress up IMO than serious performance gains. A TB as large as 75MM will only benefit you if your heads and intake breathe enough otherwise you may lose a little power. I can't comment on cost of installation. When I did an engine for my 88GT Convertible this summer I put it in myself (: loads of fun! I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
