I have a 2000 F150 with the 4.2 L and a 5spd. I'm super happy with the truck but am curious how difficult it would be to swap in a 5.0 or 5.4. I mentioned the 5.0 only because there is an abundance of accessories for it. This isn't something I would consider doing tomorrow but when its time Id like to know what the options are and what would be the easiest swap. (If at all easy)

A 5.0 would probably require extensive modifications. I would think that a 5.4 would require major rewiring, new computer, fuel system, etc. etc.
It hardly seems worth the effort.
5.4 in theory, shouldnt be much trouble. 5.0 would require a LOT of work, rewiring, possible clearancing, and would not be worth it, at all. If you could get your hands on an s/c 5.4 (lightning/HD F150) it would be worth it, and probably not too difficult, at the least not nearly as difficult as a pushrod pre-obd/obd1 engine.
