I own Mustangs for one reason, I wanted one ever since I saw my first fastback I was a little kid. Owned a vette, great car, much better brake/corner vehicle, but I will never be without a Mustang. The idea of a Mustang (as stated earlier) was to give a fairly high level of performance for moderate dollars. Plus they look cool. The car does need a major chassis overhaul to even keep up with a good rice rocket in the curves, but until that is done, who cares. If you want a car that does everything, start looking around - have too many cars and even then always want something that does something. Remember the reason you started getting into them in the first place - sort of like why the only bike I'll ever ride is a Harley, best car for me is a Mustang.

Without the twins, the Mustang just gets a bigger share of the market. Because with the twins gone I'm sure there are/will be some GM enthusiasts who will eventually trade in their Cambird for a new Mustang.

Yes, Ford has hinted the _Cobra_ will go after the Vette. They'll be able to match it's straight-line numbers, but it'll never match it in the corners. But that's okay, as long as the Cobra is thousands cheaper.

Yes, I think so. And that's cool. Again, as long as you can buy a Cobra for thousands less than the Vette, and the GT stays inexpensive, and they fill the middle ground with a Mach 1 or Bullit type.

Got my 03 GT. Its got a V8, It can do 0-60 in under 6 seconds (though I haven't tried that myself), It sounds great from the exhaust, nice stereo and good looks. I didn't have to empty my savings account either. My insurance is only $110 per month. Got 23mpg in mixed driving. I'm happy!

The Corvette is the only GM I would ever buy, but it is not good value for the money for me.

This is opinion, but I never like the looks of the new Camaros/birds. The front rounded end looks more at home in the water than on the street. I called it the inflatable boat look. I don't care if they were faster.

I'm impressed that Ford and Chevy got these cars out of the bottom of the reliability ratings. They show better than many American cars, trucks and SUVs. John

Maybe. The Cobra isn't that much cheaper than the Corvette, and it's not produced in sufficient numbers to give it a real price edge against the 'Vette. That strategy worked real well when the Cobra competed against the Cambirds; it may not play as well against America's premier sports car.
