I had Bridgestone RE-71s and have never had a set of Goodyears that could match those things for grip. They didn't last long (3 months) but they held very well. Here's a test of some tires that seems to indicate one Goodyear stacks up poorly against the competition.
I have a set of GoodYear "Performance Radial GT's" (P225/60R14) [Think these are too wide?] on my 84 Celica GT-S (RWD, Indpnt rear suspn) They have about
25-30k on them and still perform very well, and have plenty of tread left. I am very pleased with them.Most of my miles are highway, and I keep my burnouts minimal.
They are M+S rated, but require a skillful set of feet in the snow, till you slap the chains on. :-D

Just about every tire I've seen says it's M+S rated. I'll have to check the Nittos on my Cobra. They probably are too. They barely go when the roads are wet though. I can't imagine what they'd do in the snow.

I'm assuming this is a joke. My brother had an '85 Celica GT-S and he could light'em up when he wanted to. That sucker flew and was really comfortable.
It is all stock with 227K miles on it, and it can lay it out pretty well with the manual trans. You can burn out in pretty much anything with a manual.
