car has been perfect with 224k miles on the odometer. really a bullet- proof engine (1.6liter) with 4 speed manual. never had an internal engine problems. last major issue was a fuel injector that went south- easily located and r&r'd - only pain was the $70 price tag! (OUCH)

now a new issue that i have never encountered- at wide open throttle engine bucks and hesitates like it is not getting fuel, but if you let off the accelerator the speed will pick up and you can slowly add throttle until wide open throttle is giving 5k rpms or more- until i change gears. in 4th it seems that it always does the hesitation when the throttle is quickly applied. (the rpms are around 2k when it starts) i have replaced fuel filter i have cleaned throttle body i have adjusted/cleaned the throttle position sensor i have adjusted the idle which had increased to about 1200rpm for no apparent reason... nisstech? are you still out there in cyberspace? last time i sent out a cryptic problem like this you answered it immediately and correctly! thanks all.

More fuel flow is needed if you put your foot down quickly.

check fuel pressure; if the fuel pump in the tank is not pumping enough, the engine will be starved at high rpms. It's possible your fuel pump is losing it,or the intake clogged. You may also need to clean out the fuel tank.
