'91 Stanza interlocks

Jan 09, 2005 2 Replies

Hi, group,

My daughter's '91 Stanza is running fine, but is starting to show that old familiar problem with the unwilling-to-turn ignition key. She's been able to get by so far with the usual combined jiggling of steering-wheel, shift-lever, and even jolting the car while jiggling the steering wheel. But clearly it's time to DO SOMETHING .

Any experiences, tips, suggestions? Just replace the ignition interlock stuff? Disable it? (Probably illegal) or what's most likely to fail? TIA, Geoff.

Thanks, John. That sounds worth a try. She's already in the new-key mode, but there's no Nissan dealer in her city, and the hardware store was "out of blanks"! The other option is to trade her my (original) key (I used to drive the car). Not sure whether a sloppy key, or a "tight" key would be preferable...

The saga continues... Geoff.
