Changing Drivers side drive shaft on 89 Sentra

Hi I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to do to get the old drive shaft free. I looks like I need to disconect the steering arm, and then swivel the steering knuckle forward. Is there a special tool I need to seperate the steering arm? Do I have to disconnect the lower control arm mount? Thanks for any help

I just changed the axles on my 98 Sentra, which I believe is quite similar. You need a big deep socket (1 1/4" fit mine) to remove the axle end nut. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts and hang the caliper up with a coat hanger wire or something to keep it from just hanging by the hose. Remove the two bolts and nuts that connect the strut to the knuckle. I then needed a 3-jaw puller to press the splined axle shaft out of the knuckle, although you might be able to knock it out with a mallet (I couldn't). Use a big screwdriver or pry bar to pop the axle out of the differential, and, as the British say, Bob's yer uncle.
