93 Maxima Overheating Issues

Jan 02, 2005 3 Replies

My Maxima overheated awhile ago and I need to know what damage could have been done because of it... My engine boiled out and my water pump sprung a leak, I have no problem fixing the pump and timing belt but my mechanic told me my car could have suffered major damage when it got so hot. He said possible problems with the spark plugs, hoses and the engine itself, as well as the radiator. My question is, is there anyway to tell if the car has any one of these problems before I replace the water pump and timing belt? would it be a waste of time?

Unfortunately, no, probably not possible to tell without fixing enough to get it running again.

alright thanks! i will get it fixed and see what happens. Cassandra
