95Max and ECU

Several weeks ago I wrote about a Check Engine problem and was kindly referred to a site that explains how to get the correct code for the problem. I've been busy trying to fix a roof leak (now there's a problem) but today got to the Max. Unfortunately, I could not get by the first step. According to the instructions on the vbx Maxima site, you remove the ECU cover by a quick twist of two screws. The accompanying picture seems to show "screws" but my Max does not have the screwdriver receiving head slots. They are smooth. I dug and pried and . . . . but they would not come off or out. How do you do this operation without breaking the plastic non"screws"?

I assume you are talking about the plastic shroud/trim piece you need to remove to see the ECU. Those are just plastic clips - pry them out with a flat-head screwdriver.

You can also just drive to your local autozone and they will retrieve the codes for free and you can save yourself the hassles :)
