I have a 98 Maxima Automatic 240 K started to notice this past week that when the vehichle shifts to the next gear it seems rather abrupt and causes a a bit of a jerk when switching gears. More prominent in the lower gears but I think it is there in all ..... any ideas??? Thanks in advance

Have you had your transmission fluid drained and replaced somewhere in the

240K?

240K miles, or km?

If you've never changed the fluid, change it with Dexron fluid. Could be all it needs.

On the other hand, the friction material in the maxima tranny has a typical lifespan of 150-175,000 miles, so you may have simply worn through it.

If you need a replacement tranny, your best bet is to get a used one from a junkyard, rather than a rebuilt, which are less reliable and more expensive. That's just the weight of opinion on this board, I have no personal experience.

My '87 Maxima did that until I got the tranny fluid changed and It shifts fine now. I thought the tranny was going out on mine and turns out all it needed was a fluid change.

maxima '87 max GXE 125,000 miles
