First, thanks for the replies. I had to start somewhere. I did swap out the MAF sensor yesterday and it didn't solve the problem (the counter guy at the local dealer is a friend and he let me do a trial swap in the parking lot so I didn't have to pay for it - $411.00 - ouch!) But while I was driving it to the dealer to pick up the part the check engine light came on. The code it gave me was for the temp sensor. I changed it and initially that didn't help until I cleared the code from memory, then it ran fine. My question now is could the temp sensor have triggered the computer into this failsafe mode? I guess it almost makes sense, but I'm wondering why it would go into this mode without setting any codes? Is it more likely that I have some type of intermittent problem with the MAF sensor?Just curious. I guess time will tell. But thanks again for the input.
