205 XLD Door Lock

Greetings

I can't undo my 1987 205 XLD (3 door) passenger door lock.

So far I've stripped the door panel trim off and seperated the key mechanism (which appears to be fully functional). Even with the key mechanism out, the internal upright pull tab (for want of its correct title) doesnt extend as far as it should (or did before). Getting inside the door and levering the relevant bits doesnt help either.

I believe I will have to destroy the lock from inside the door, to get the door open, to get to the lock screws, to replace the whole assembly.

Any better ideas

Never had a 205 lock seize that bad before. If you are sure that the lock rod (internal button) is up (unlocked) and the external handle isn't seized (maybe remove it) and you have soaked it in WD40 and tried all the levers etc then yes you will have to break it up from inside. Just be careful you don't damage the door metal!

Thanks nigel,

The "lock rod (internal button) is not up (unlocked). It is linked to the key mechanism rod and its this connection bit which wont move (stuck) to release the mechanism.

The external handle is free, as is the internal handle, but both dont do anythny until the door catch mechanism is "undone".

Looks like a quick job for the air hammer.

Regards

Tony
