I'm driving a 110 pk hdi from january 2003. The top speed of the car as per the specifications should be 185 km/hr. Driving with good circumstances (no wind) the car comes no further than 175 km/hr on the instruments and when you make an average on the board computer the maximum reached value is 169. Is this normal? The car has 66000 km's and warrenty ends....
you need to clean your fuel filter, the fuel that goes trough the injectors does so @ 1400 bar, giving that and the fact that diesel is a nice cleaning product itself you can imagine putting some "injector cleaning" stuff in wont help a single bit.
the OP is a dutchman, he probably uses quality fuel, and if not he should do
apart from that he should use a good air filter like the standard pug filter or a K&N replacement filter ( which turns out cheaper over
60.000 KM) replacing fuel filters on a regular scheme is also to be recommended, at least every 20.000 km even with good q fuel because one way or another the filter clogs up with debris from fuel pistols etc. failing to do so might choke the whole fuel system and i can tel you a HDI pressure pump does not like that.
the ecu mapping is done so that it would even run on chemical waste.... it would be advisable not to fidlle around with it when driving in your country.
i dont know the BMC filters but i'm sure they work well, changing fuel filters every 20.000 is a very good practice.... i wish the diesel drivers would do that over here....
