Which Stereos need iso adapters for an R reg 306 ( mark 2 )?

Sorry I am a newbie and have never changed a car stereo before, my clarion radio cassette has packed up and I am looking to replace it with a sub ?100 cd tuner. I am thinking of the sony cdx2000, but am confused as to whether it will need an adaptor or not or will just plug straight in to the existing connectors.

Please can you let me know which makes, if any, will work without the need for an adaptor.

P.s. I have read all the posts about how impossibly difficult it is to get the old clarions out, and will try my luck with the offical keys which I bought on ebay - any hints would be useful.

All aftermarket stereos have ISO connectors. If your car also has ISO connectors, then all stereos will plug right in.

The adaptor (if needed) is for the CAR side, not the stereo side !

It's not hard at all, and you don't need any tools. There are a pair of removal holes - one on each side (sometimes underneath a blanking strip). Jam a needle/screwdriver/anything-the-right-size into the holes, and pull the unit out.

A phase-II 306 has 10-way ISO connectors.

You'll probably need an adaptor for the remote stalk, and may have to reverse the permanent and ignition live cables (as Pugs are the 'wrong' way round for most HUs.
