Just in case someone didn't know.... I found that the easy way to remove the oil filter on a 2000 Sunfire

why not unscrew it from underneath the old fashioend way & let oil run down your arm

Imagine an octopus with only three legs. Ratchet handle goes in the center and the legs tighten up on filter when turned.

My best way to change oil in any car:
Step 1:Go buy the applicable filter at autozone or whatever store carries a good brand. (Cost: ~$5)
Step 2: Walk over to the lube rack and bribe one of the guys to change the oil real fast during their slow time, offer lunch or money (cost: ~$5)
Step 3: Get car, drive home.
No changing spark plugs are not bad in my 99 sunfire. for the second one for the passenger side, I have to remove a bolt that gets in the way to have the socket turn freely
Sounds like what I do. My uncle is the assistant manager at Midas (he used to be the manager but it took too much time) and he'd just have them change the oil and filter on whatever car I bought it.
