2004 GP GTP - Nice car! I had to go to Atlanta and South Carolina last week on business. National Rent a car in Atlanta wanted $53/ day for a Sunbird/Cav or $56/ day for a GP with Kompressor. After several milliseconds of rationalizing away spending $15 more of the company's money I got the GTP. It was fully loaded with everything. Simply said, it was the most fun drive I have had in a long time. It stuck to the twisty mountain roads like a Martian sand lizard on a brick wall. And I thoroughly enjoyed the slight whine of the Kompressor. Acceleration, while not like my friend's 03 Vette, was still considerable - much more than I expected - probably more than 90% of the cars on the road. Torque steer was very noticeable. IMO, a car with that much power should be rear wheel drive.
Last week I had to go to Fort Worth, Texas and rented a Ford Escape
- fully loaded. It was a nice SUV. 6 cyl with good power but, IMO, it was a very cheaply made mass production vehicle. I found the seat too hard, no padding on the arm rests very uncomfortable, and the stereo very poor sound quality (really bad). I like the company's Ford Ranger P/U much better.
... And now, back to the real world of a worn out 92 Grand Am.
