2008 Pontiac Vibe HVAC control lighting (2023 Update)

One of the bulbs illuminating my 2008 Vibe's HVAC controls seems to be intermittent. How do I access the bulb, and what type is it so that I can replace it?

To access the HVAC control lighting bulb in a 2008 Pontiac Vibe, you will need to remove the HVAC control assembly. Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Begin by removing the screws that hold the radio and HVAC control assembly in place. These are typically located on the bottom of the assembly.

  1. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the radio and HVAC control assembly out of the dashboard.

  2. Carefully disconnect any electrical connections that are attached to the assembly.

  1. Once you have the HVAC control assembly removed, you should be able to see the back of the light. The bulb is held in place by a small clip or tab, you can release the clip or tab to remove the bulb.

  2. The bulb type is likely a T5 Wedge base. It is a miniature wedge base and the most common size used in automotive lighting.

  1. Replace the bulb with a new one of the same type and reassemble the HVAC control assembly in the reverse order of how you removed it.

  2. Test the lights to ensure they are working properly.

Please note that these steps are general and may vary depending on the exact model of your 2008 Pontiac Vibe. It is always recommended to check your vehicle's owner manual for specific instructions on how to access and replace the bulbs of your HVAC control assembly.

To access and replace the HVAC control lighting bulb in a 2008 Pontiac Vibe, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • T5 Wedge base replacement bulb
  • A clean cloth or towel to protect the dashboard and surrounding areas while you are working on it.

It's also a good idea to have a small container or bag to hold the screws you remove from the HVAC control assembly, to keep them from getting lost.

It's always good to have a car manual in case you need to consult it for any specific instructions on your car.
