Dropping Tachometer?

All,

I own a 2003 Pontiac Aztek. At one time, I owned a 1996 Grand Am GT with a

3.1L V6. It's odd that in both vehicles that I've noticed the same quirky behavior. As I'm cruising down the road and let off the accelerator to coast along, I noticed the tach will drop from about 2000 RPMs to 750 RPMs and finally bounce back to around 1500. Is this normal Pontiac behavior? I've owned several cars over the years and have never noticed this bounce in 2 Dodges, 1 Chevrolet, and 2 Oldsmobiles. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks, Jeremy snipped-for-privacy@aol.com

Yes, it could be part of my driving style, and I would expect for the engine to decelerate. The engine speed drops to where it feels like it's going to stall out before it jumps back up. I'm waiting for my car to completely die one day when I'm slowing down to a stop.

I think this may be more due to your driving style than the tach itself...

As I can discern, is you are lett> All,
