Importance of Options

Ok we all know options are important, but which are more important then others? GM ussually doesn't let you pick and choose, along with most other car companies. So out of the options I'm gonna list, put them in the order that is most important to you, add any that I forgot. The initial list is going to be my order of importance.

Air Conditioning Tilt Wheel Power Windows Power Locks Factory Alarm Cruise Control Power Mirrors Power Seats Premium Sound Alloy Wheels Fog Lights Factory Spoiler DVD/TV Video system Heated Seats Heated Mirrors Power Steering Wheel Tilt (saw this on a mercedes... stupid)

Hey PDX, maybe Nicky T. can give some pointers on getting a stick in the Monte C? Now THAT would be cool

Define "important". Do you mean important from a "want/preference" standpoint? Or, important from a safety/function standpoint?

From a function/safety standpoint

--------------------------------- o ABS (which is debatable) o Rear window defogger o Exterior temperature readout o Heated mirrors o Traction Control o Side Air Bags o All wheel drive, where available o OnStar or similar product/service

From a preference standpoint

---------------------------- o Air Conditioning o Cruise Control o Optional larger than standard engine o Nice to have but not critical - Power windows/locks - Remote keyless entry - full size spare tire - trip computer - satellite radio - tilt steering wheel - 8-way power driver seat

Not "important"

-------------- o A radio that turns itself louder the faster the car goes (the feature can be disabled on GMs, if anyone else even has it) o CD/Tape player o RDS type radio o premium sound o Heated seats/leather seats o fog lights o Automatic headlight control and daytime running lights (the feature cannot be disabled on GM's like it can on others) o alloy wheels o spoiler (looks stupid anyway) o Alarm

The Beretta came with the 3.1L and 5 speed in the early or mid 90's. Whatever tranny that is, that's the one. GW

Important:

---Safty--- ABS Air Bags Traction Control

----------- 6 cyl or above A/C Intermittent wipers (not making this standard is ridiculous) Rear window defrost Cruise Control Tilt Wheel Power Locks Power Windows Mp3 Player (hard drive or cd type put in from the factory!) 8 way Power bucket seats Power mirrors Auto Climate Control Factory Alarm/Keyless entry Factory Deck Spoiler (no whale tails) Bose Sound System Digital Compass or Onboard GPS maping system Sport suspensions and/or load leveling Auto dim mirrors Heads Up Display Alloy Wheels Dual exhaust (or at least 2 pipes at the rear) Some chrome trim

No importance to "me": Wiper blades > Ok we all know options are important, but which are more important then

My sis had one of those, the tranny was made by Isuzu or something I think.

Yeah if you could get around the obd II codes being set and computer controls etc etc and mount a clutch pedal in there somehow... Not looking to be worth the effort.

Seperating the tranny and the motor was a great idea, if it werent for the hump running down the center this would be great for all cars.

The 1988 Cavalier Z24 I used to own had the Munci 5-speed, very nice tranny, solid/fast shifts. It was mated to a 2.8, but same mounting as the 3.1 and the 1990+ Isuzu tranny. I even shortened the shifter 2". But I did go through 3 shifter cables because I liked to "power shift" it when racing. That is, leave accelerator matted and only tap the clutch, punching into 3rd was the killer, really hurts your fingers when you jam them between the shifter and the stereo. ;)

Would be more then putting a turbocharger kit on the car, which is what I'd rather, and might do.

They have it where its not intermittant?

You know I saw a factory MP3 player in a ford... forgot what kind it was, reluctant to say that I think it was in a Focus...
