New Shocks and Struts for 96 Grand Am

I've got a 96 Pontiac Grand Am SE V6. The stock struts in the front give a very bumpy ride, I'm told it's because they don't support the weight of the front of the vehicle very well and bottom out easily. There's nothing wrong with them but I don't like the ride that they give so I was thinking of replacing them with some Gabriel Gas Rider struts and shocks for the rear and I need to know whether or not I will get a softer, less bumpy ride with this brand of struts and shocks or if there if there is a better alternative.. If anybody has done the same thing please let me know how your Grand Am if riding now with better struts and shocks. Any replies will be appreciated.

Thanks
