What's Up With the Solstice?

Question

I've heard that there were delays in production, preventing it from being introduced this summer andinstead, it was to be out in te fall. It's fall! We're thinking of buying one, but the closest one to us is about an hour away (we're in Silicon Valley). Are they not widely distributed yet, or are there even more problems with production?

It's was a delay.  They will have only I think I read 10,000 this year and preduction will ramp up depending on demand.  I think they had like 5000 pre orders this year that why they are hard to find.  I drove one at the GM test drive at EL Toro.  They have a road course so you can get a feel for the car and put you foot in it to get the best time on the timed course.  I'm 5'11" and was 265 lbs( now I'm down to 245) and I had plenty of legs and head room.  The car was very nice on the inside and took corners very well and had pretty good pick up( to compare I have a lightly modded '04 WRX and a '64 Grand Prix 389 w/ Tri power).  Overall it was a nice car , very stiff. You may want to wait till next year any when either turbo or supercharged version come out they will bring the power up from 177hp to over 230hp. Also GM puts out upgrades for this motor that they say can bring the power to 500 hp when it's in the cobalt for around $4000.  hope that helps.

I read that they had orders for over 10k but will only produce 7k this year.

Thanks for the info. You're about the same dimensions as one of people who would be driving it (I'm the shorter one) so that's good to know. We're going to see if there's a test track around here - driving one one a closed course sounds like fun.
