HOV privilege in CA??

May 04, 2008 3 Replies

Though I enjoy the tech platform, relish the mileage, and am delighted with the bulletproof reliability, one of the most important benefits of my '04 is the HOV-lane privilege in CA. That saves me many hours a month in travel time, and dramatically reduces the wait time on an unavoidable on-ramp near my office.

Apparently that privilege and those stickers will expire some time in 2011, but I haven't seen official notice. If so, does anyone know if there's to be any sort of repeat?

Sounds pretty "official" to me. I'm betting against this date being extended, given that every other car in LA seems to be a Prius.

This applies to the white sticker too; those are for electric cars, LPG cars, etc.

I'm fairly certain that it will be extended.

Some months ago I ordered my dealer's first 2010, contingent upon plug-in, lithium, etc. However, when it became clear that the stickers wouldn't transfer - and there aren't new ones - I withdrew the order.

I've already had this 2004 longer than any car since my first in 1954, but will keep it to preserve that important HOV privilege.
