2004 9-3 rear brake squeal when rolling backward

A friend of mine (who i often ride with) has a 2004 Saab 9-3 (the middle one -- Linear?). One vexing problem she has had for some months now is that the rear brakes squeal during low speed stops, but ONLY when the car is rolling backwards. The dealer has been unable to find a cause or a solution. Has anyone in this group had the same issue and found a reasonable solution?

There is a solvent you can apply to clean the brakes. Sounds like that is what she needs or maybe the rotors should be turned. The dealer should know why the brakes are squealing. If this is an 04 it should be under warranty. I would demand the dealer fix the problem or go to another saab dealer. If that doesnt work you can sall saab direct they a 1 800 no in back of your warranty book. they will work with the dealer to resolve her problem. good luck papa

Most squeals are due to parts that are not sliding properly (Part is tying to move, it get's stuck... it keeps trying to move... vibration... squeal). Removing the pads and cleaning and moly greasing the rails and pins should fix it.
