8v turbo cylinder head - either good/used or new/reman'd

hi everyone,

I'm investigating what's out there in the way of 8V turbo cylinder heads which are off known-good engines and do not have the excessively-bad coolant passage corrosion evident in the existing head removed from the engine my 83 8V turbo 900, or failing that, possibly a new or remanufactured head.

Does anyone know if there's any of those cylinder heads available anywhere (preferably in Australia)? Remember that it's for a 1983 8V non-APC turbo car, so I'm not sure if could use a head intended for a non-turbo engine. There's the option of dismantling the engine in the 1985 900i but that's a good running unit (which I've been considering adding the turbo to) but would rather see if the 83's engine can be resurected first of all.

Thanks if you can help out.

Craig.

Hi Craig. You could try A-Twins at Girraween, but I think they're long done with 8V stuff now. Worth giving Northern Wreckers a call (before you trail all the way out there on spec). Non turbo ones didn't have hardened valve seats, so you'd at least need to change them if you went that route!

If you want to see if your old one is actually salvageable at a reasonable cost I'd give Dominator Engine Reconditioning at Guildford a call. As a last resort, there are probably still new ones available from the UK. Even factoring in freight it might be worth a try. Cheers
